Brief Overview

Working for Billabong over the last nine seasons (three per year) laid a solid foundation for my knowledge of the fashion/media industry in Australia. There I established a detailed understanding within the realm of commercial, creative art; for printmaking both for garments and print press collateral to support it.  Working there I also established an understanding fitting art concepts into particular markets, from almost absolute censorship to an all out creative assault.

At Billabong I worked in a team of three producing a 350-400-piece ranges. We primarily worked on knitwear, t-shirts, fashion tees, fleece and wet shirts. Although it wasn’t uncommon to switch over to woven, denim or board shorts if need be, and in doing so created a strong background for all of us in all aspects of designing. Billabong carry’s a lot of its work in house so to complement the design process, I gained insight in to the, advertising collateral, and marketing that assisted the range such as product support, range release presentations and photo shoots.

I am a confident designer throughout the whole process, from relevant brainstorming and concept creation, to guiding my work to have the best balance of innovative style paired with commercial viability. These points I think are integral for a designer today.

After working for Billabong. For the last four months I have been working as a freelance designer, most notably for MTV. Here I have reinforced my industry experience, developing print and web advertising collateral, for both the Australian and New Zealand markets.

My Background

Growing up on the far north coast of NSW. I moved to Sydney in early 2002 where I eventually studied Fashion Design at East Sydney Institute of technology.

In September of 2005 I was lucky enough to start working full time for Billabong as an assistant designer to the head menswear designer. I had an exiting three years working for the industry leader that Billabong is, learning an immense amount, and having a lot of fun along the way.

My personal interests in various mediums such as art, fashion, sport and design lend originality to my dedicated work ethic and genuine will to succeed.  I love to meet new people and pride myself the relationships I keep both personally and professionally. I am a confident speaker and l look forward to the growth that a challenge can bring.
